  Purchased 6 cupcakes for the high end price of $18.00. Sadly, these cupcakes are not worth the price or the trip. For a place that sells cupcakes and macaroons in their case, you would hope to have an excellent cupcake. I bought 6 different kinds. My first one was the lavender. There was a tiny hint of lavender in the first bite. The frosting was a huge disappointment. It left a greasy coating on my tongue afterwards until I ate something else to cleanse my palate. The chocolate chip cupcakes I was told has chocolate chips in the cake and in the frosting. It was clear to see the choc chips were in the frosting. On getting the paper off the cupcakes, you could see that ALL the choc chips had sunk to the bottom of the cupcake. The cupcake tasted like there was cornmeal in it. It tasted similar to corn bread. It was dry and over baked.
  Again the frosting was over sweet. There was nothing to distinguish the cupcakes as special other than the high price. We sampled the Irish Cream next. It had a stripe of green in the frosting and a stripe of chocolate. The green tasted like nothing and the chocolate tasted like Hershey's syrup that you let the kids use for choc milk or on their ice cream. Very watery and sweet. The red velvet cupcake was definitely red in color but it was over baked and dry. We sampled the turtle cupcake. Again the cake was tasteless and the frosting too sweet. The only cupcake that was moist was the lavender one. Of the six different flavors we had every one had too much sweetness in the frosting and so if there was anything else in the frosting, you couldn't taste it. These were the kind of cupcakes you would expect from a school bake sale maybe. If there had been one cupcake that had been worth the price I might go back but it is sadly not the case. I'd suggest they don't put shortening in their frosting and use milk and butter in their cake batter and add some vanilla too. :-p

  Yum, Yum and more Yum! Sweet Velvet Cake Company has really raised the bar on sweet treats in the Janesville area. The moist, soft and amazingly tasty cupcakes are a favorite in our household. We always look forward to the new flavors every month, but I especially love the plain chocolate and am really glad they don't change that one out. The staff here is so super helpful and always ready to meet the needs of the special orders. I think they are a super benefit to our downtown.

  I LOVE these cupcakes! They really have a quality flavor. These aren't boxed cakes or shortening frosting. These are absolutely the most buttery, moist, and soft cupcakes you'll ever have. I have had all the flavors and they are very good. The people there are so nice and helpful and willing to work with you if you want a special cake. Make sure you stop here the next time you're downtown Janesville!
